My Four Choices

Violence on Television and its Impact on Society - The majority of people would agree that many more kids today that watch television have a more violent way of handling situations as oppose to those who don't watch it as often. The majority of us also know that what people do in front of children is critical due to the "monkey see, monkey do" theory. If parents and guardians had more control of what types of television and games children as well as young teens play, there would be a more sussessful generations.

Lowering the Drinking Age - I am well aware of the fact that I am underage and not allowed to legally drink, but this is not the reason as to why I beileve that the drinking age should be lowered. Lowering the drinking age to eighteen, in my opinion, would result in less crime and violence. Teenagers would not have to "sneak" drinking and binging would also not be a problem because it would be legal so it would not be forever until their next drink. This does not only pertain to me because it is my generation for the most part, but because it also would hinder the amount of danger going on around me, as well as others.

Abortion/Teenage Pregnancy - Being a catholic, this is a concern that I have been heard and preached to my whole life. While it is very inconvienient for someone to get pregnant at an early age, it was someone's choice to do so. Someone made a choice to take a risk. Shouldn't the baby get a chance to make something of themselves and perhaps even have that choice in their future?

The Cost of College - When everyone hears the word college, many think about the financial side of it and how much it costs, which is usually extremely high. A minimum of 300 dollars for one class seems a bit ridiculous. However, there is a lot that can be done about this issue. There are scholarships, grants, and financial aid that is out there for not only people who really need it but those average joes as well. When it's all said and done, all the hard work and money pays off when someone is making 50,000 a year, or just simply happy with thier job.

  1. I think I am going to write my paper on "Lowering the Drinking Age". I am in favor of lowering the drinking age as opposed to keeping it the same or raising it. In lowering the drinking age to 18, it would provide more invlovement of society as a whole and less crime and violence.
